What is the P&C?

The Ferncourt Parents & Citizens Association consists of a group of parents and carers of the children that attend Ferncourt Public School.  One of our aims is to improve the school experience for every child (beyond what the Department of Education and Communities provides) in a non-political, non-discriminatory manner.  Another is to support the education and teaching of our children.  While our third aim is to help maintain a strong Ferncourt community.  

What can I expect at a meeting? 

We generally meet at 7:00pm on the third Wednesday of each month during school terms. Meetings usually run for an hour and a half. Each meeting has an agenda which is circulated via email. Meetings are run by the president or one of the vice-presidents of the P&C. During meetings parents and school staff discuss and make decisions about a range of issues, from fundraising for the school, educational issues, upcoming events and activities. Everyone is welcome. If you would like to come and need babysitting for the duration of the meeting, please contact our secretaries via ferncourtpandc@gmail.com.   

How is do I join the P&C? 

While anyone can attend meetings, you need to become a financial member of the P&C association (which means paying an annual fee of $2) if you would like to-

How is the Committee elected?

Committee and Subcommittee executive roles are decided via nomination at the AGM, or sometimes at a general meeting.

What activities are parents and carers involved in?

The parents and carers of Ferncourt are involved in a wide range of projects throughout the school, capturing a broad range of interests and talents.  The P&C has established a number of standing Subcommittees and facilitates the creation of ad-hoc or temporary Sub-committees were necessary.  Our standing Subcommittees are:

The P&C also includes people who act as liaisons between families and some of the businesses or individuals providing services to the school such as:

But remember, you don't need to be a member of the P&C to be involved in the school! There are many, many things you can do to be a part of it, from doing Reading Groups and Multi-lit in the classrooms, to pulling out some weeds in the eco garden, to being a welcoming face for a new parent.  It all helps ☺️
